Otacool Official Character Announced!

Kotobukiya is proud to announce the “Official OTACOOL Character”!  When we began to take submissions of cosplayers for 「OTACOOL２ WORLDWIDE COSPLAYERS」, we also asked everyone to submit their original illustration for Otacool Official Character. Now time has come for us to make the big announcement on whose illustration has been selected as the Official Character!

Before going any further, we would like to thank everyone for taking their precious time to create all of these beautiful art works! We at Kotobukiya are very proud and happy to be able to see so many people attending this event. We are lucky to be able connect with so many fans and enthusiasts through the OTACOOL OFFICIAL website, and felt everyone’s love for anime, cosplay, and off course OTACOOL. This time we received illustrations from all over the world and after going through every illustration, have finally chosen the character that we felt best fit our image of the Otacool Official Character.

Out of many Bishoujo illustrations you see these days, his illustration really stood out. He had a great understanding of the OTACOOL concept, and has well expressed the two ideas “OTAKU” and “Coolness”

I was very surprised to receive an e-mail from Kotobukiya, I felt so proud to be chosen by such a famous company. The mascot was designed to be cool as suggested by the book’s title: OTACOOL. I imagined her as a fluffy-haired photograph girl who uses her own costume to modify and print her work. It would be my greatest pleasure if she was drawn by other artists. I hope you will enjoy this character. Thank you.
